The ZW38 Black Label Chorus is a modulation effect pedal from MXR designed for guitarist Zakk Wylde, best known for his work with Black Label Society, Ozzy Osbourne, and Pride & Glory. Using its bucket-brigade circuitry to create lush, liquid textures, Wylde employs the ZW38 to thicken up his wall of distortion, and add dimension and texture to clean passages.
The ZW38 features rate, depth, and level controls to regulate the speed, intensity, and volume level of the effect, as well as knobs for cutting high and low frequencies, which provide greater tone control than a typical chorus pedal allows.The ZW38 Black Label Chorus includes a 1/4″ input, a 1/4″ output, and a 1/4″ thru output jack for output to a second amp using optional stereo mode, which creates a wide and sweeping stereo spread.
A footswitch toggles the effect on and off with buffered bypass, and an LED illuminates when the effect is on. Additionally, the ZW38 pedal comes in a heavy-duty housing that is built tough for a lifetime of use on the road. Its small footprint saves pedalboard space, and it can be powered by a single 9V battery or a 9 VDC adapter (sold separately).
