The Behringer Solina String Ensemble is a clone of the original of the same name from ARP, which was produced between 1974 and 1981. The popular string synthesizer immediately takes players and listeners back to the plush, funky 70s and spontaneously recalls countless film scores and releases of this era. In favour of the compact, rack-compatible housing, Behringer has dispensed with the opulent wooden case and 49 keyboard keys in the new edition.
The completely analog sound generation is a mixture of sawtooth oscillators, frequency divider and chord generator. The tonal possibilities are firmly anchored in the six presets Bass, Cello, Viola, Violin, Trumpet and Horn. However, these can be activated simultaneously, which pleasantly expands the possible sound palette.
With the bass slider, the basic sound gains some thrust. The VCA envelope is composed of crescendo (attack) and sustain phase. If you add the wonderful phaser effect, every note you elicit from the Solina becomes velvety soft, it wafts, breathes and in general, this is where you find a good part of the disco and funk flair.
